Synopsis: The long, cold winter when the girls have to stay in the house is broken up by Laura’s fifth birthday.
When my oldest was young, I got a few of the My First Little House Books from the library for her. She enjoyed them at the time, and then we kind of forgot about them. Or, maybe we quit going to the local library that had them, and the one we started going to didn’t have them. I’m not sure. Anyway, I just bought one when I had the chance, for my little ones. They loved it!
A Little House Birthday tells the story of Laura’s fifth birthday, in the little log cabin deep in the Big Woods of Wisconsin. She and her older sister Mary are stuck in the cabin for the winter, because the snow is so deep outside, and days can get very long and boring. Her birthday is not boring, though! It turns out to be very exciting for the little girls.
The pictures are what really make this book. They are rich and warm, and cover the entire page. This is a beautiful book, and I have a feeling I’ll be reading it to my little children over and over.
