Title: Coffee Cake Days
Author: Amanda Tero
Major Themes: Christian Living, Young Adults
Synopsis: Meg has a problem: How can she balance her desire to learn from the Lord and the needs of her family?
When I recently came across Amanda Tero’s books, I was pleasantly surprised when I read some of her short stories. They may not be long, but they have depth to them and I appreciate that. Coffee Cake Days was one of these—a fast read, but encouraging too.
Meg, now graduated from school, has a goal: To spend as much time in the Word as possible each day. However, her family seems to be conspiring against her, asking her to do things for them that take more time than she’s willing to spend. How can she find a balance between devoting her time to God and attending to the needs of and blessing her family?
Meg’s troubles were something that I could really relate to. Finding a balance in life is hard but necessary. I loved the ending, too—that was sweet! If you’re looking for a quick, satisfying but still beneficial read, I’d highly recommend Coffee Cake Days.
