The Minstrel in the Tower is a delightful, short story about a brother and sister whose father has gone off in the Crusades and whose mother is very sick. She asks them to go to Bordeaux and find the uncle they never even heard of until now. Roger and Alice set out on their quest, but are soon locked into a tower by a pair of ruffians. Fearless Alice climbs out of the tower to go for help. Can Roger conquer his fears and keep the ruffians believing that Alice is still there until help comes?

This is an easy reader, a chapter book for young readers. It will appeal to any child who is interested in medieval times and knights. We’ve read it several times and continue to enjoy it. It has a lovely, sweet ending!
